Trip to the zoo!

Today we went to the zoo with Mary and Autumn.  It was a lovely day!  We had invited several other friends, but at the last moment they all backed out, so it was a small crowd.

I think everyone agreed that the alligators and the two year old chimp were the favorites. All the kids really enjoyed watching that little chimp swing from the ropes…….sometimes making it to the next rope and sometimes missing.

Most of the big animals stayed far away from the viewing area……must have been because it was later in the day (and it was a pretty warm day), but Carlos really enjoyed learning about the giraffes…..did you know a male giraffes heart weighs 25 pounds?  Yep, it sure does.  And even though they never came up close, it was still fun to see those huge animals walking so gracefully on those LONG legs.

Another highlight was the animal skull display.  My three biggest kids love finding skulls(mostly of deer) in our woods and it was really neat to see the skulls and then go and see the live animal.  Jadyn did great and was happy riding in the stroller for most of the day…..as long as she had some crackers or banana to keep her occupied!  And since Tia Mary is the banana queen, Jadyn had all the bananas she could eat.
