More Changes

Because, I suppose, life is not interesting enough with a new job, new van, new school, we’ve decided to add a new kid and a new house to the mix!

Yep, about three weeks ago (praise the Lord) we received an offer on our house and after a very little bit of negotiating, we signed the contract! We are supposed to close on August 28^th. We’ve spent the last week or so looking at homes, but finding nada. So it looks like we will move to a temporary location for a few weeks to a few months until we find a home that meets our needs……and a few wants too! While moving twice is NOT ideal (yeah, we’ve done this before) it’s a lot better than purchasing a home that’s not right for us.

So maybe you’re wondering if you read the first line correctly…..you know the part about a new kid…….well, yes, you did.

Almost 10 years ago while we were waiting for our boys in Guatemala (we had not yet received their referral and Jeremiah wasn’t even born yet) we got an email from our agency saying there was a great need for families to adopt little boys from China. So I contacted the coordinator an expressed an interest, only to find out that we weren’t old enough (both Stephen and I were in our twenties and China requires both parents to be at least 30 years old), so we ruled China out. But ever since I’ve been drawn to China and I find it quite funny that Jeremiah is often mistaken as Asian.

So now we’ve come full circle……in about a week we will be welcoming into our home an international student from…….China! Yes, he’s not a permanent kid, but for the next year he will be living with our family as a member of our family. Our student is 16 and will be attending the same school as Carlos.

We are excited about this opportunity and a little apprehensive since we will now be the parents of two teenagers! We’ve never parented teenagers before and now we’ll have two! Eeeeek.
