Touch A Truck

We braved the heat this morning (it was literally 100degrees today) and went to Touch A Truck and wow, did we have fun (and sweat a lot!).  This community event is one of my favorites and it’s totally FREE.  Anyway,on the way home everyone said what their favorite truck was…….the police car was rank #1.  Stephen and I were amazed by the Red Cross truck.  This disaster relief trailer has the capacity to make 30,000 meals in ONE DAY!  Yep, thirty thousand!!  They said that this trailer was on location after Katrina and was functioning at half capacity (15,000 meals) and had 150 people working to bring those meals to hungry people. We were just amazed that you can use a trailer that size to produce that much food!

Another highlight was the water spaying fire trucks and the bubble pit (I’m sure it has a real name, but it’s basically a fenced in area that the “bubble” truck sprays bubbles into…..like my very technical description?).

Natalie, Jeremiah and Ben were also impressed with the Abbott Trailways bus with the overhead bunks (I’m not sure how in the world an adult could squeeze into those bunks, but the driver assured us that they can and do!).

And of course the best part of Touch A Truck……honking the horns!

It was a nice morning. And we are so thankful for air conditioning!
