Operation Christmas Child

Two weeks ago we packed our Operation Christmas Child boxes.  It has been several years since we participated in OCC.  Last year I felt like going out with the kids to shop for toys was way more than I could handle, so we opted out of doing a box.  But I thought this year was the perfect year…..Natalie, Carlos and Jeremiah are all big enough to really get involved and since geography and learning about people groups has been an important part of our school this year, it seemed like the perfect opportunity.  Plus it had been quite a while since we’ve done any type of service project.  It took us several shopping trips, but finally we had a whole pile of great gifts to pack into our boxes.

Natalie was so pleased to be able to send her “little girl” a baby doll and princess shoes.  The boys begged and begged for some of the candy, but I wanted this project to be all about giving…..not getting, so sorry big boys no candy this time.  After several tries to get everything into the boxes, they were finally packed!

It’s very fun to think that somewhere around the globe one little boy and one little girl will receive gifts from us.  Our gifts are not expensive or all that great really, but they will also receive news of a gift that is the best of all…..news of Jesus Christ, His birth, death and resurrection…..gospel.
