Last week we picked our first fresh produce from our garden! Two delicious yellow squash!! They were very tasty and I can’t wait for more to come in, especially tomatoes. Picking the first things from our garden always makes me think of the Children of Israel.
Exodus 23:19a
“Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the LORD your God.”
And the New Testament gives us a more complete picture. We are God’s firstfruits because of Jesus Christ.
James 1:17,18
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.”
