Beach Trip (part 6 of MANY)

Aquarium day!!  We got up really early (ok, really early forvacation) and headed to the Aquarium on Roanoke Island (about an hourdrive from our house).  We met up with Michael, Leah and theirlittle gang (Stephen’s brother who was also vacationing at the beach, just in a different house).  The Aquarium was very nice and wereally enjoyed looking at the fish and animals.  There was onesection where they had an alligator, otters and turtles (not all in thesame tank of course).  We loved that part.  In the earlymorning the otters were so playful swimming, diving and playing aroundin their pool.  Jeremiah especially loved Otters because theywould swim right up to the glass and turn flips just for him.

(Can’t post about Aquariums without showing a fish picture….now how wrong would that be!!)

After the aquarium we went to Jockey’s Ridge andhiked up the mountain of sand….whew that was a trip!  Jeremiah didnot like it at ALL.  He really does not like sand too much and thewind was blowing constantly, so he was pretty miserable.  Carloshad a better time though and he really enjoyed jumping down the sandmountain and swimming in the tadpole infested water at thebottom.  After sitting in the water, I realized that saying hecould get into the water (wading) was not what Carlos had in mind…..ohwell wet shorts all the way home …. could be worse.

Stephen decided to do the “jump off the dunes” thing and got way morethan he bargained for….a face plant and a mouth (ears and nose too)full of sand!  Check out his blog for details an pictures….oh and by the way we are still cleaning the sand out of our cell phone!!
