$30 Vacation

I just love $30.00 vacations!  Yep, it’s true, last week the kids and I went to the beach with my three sisters and my mom and it cost 30 bucks.  Someone was super kind and gave us a free week stay in their beach home…..we only had to split the cleaning cost……amazing!  We had absolutely gorgeous weather and the water was icy cold!!  But the cold water did not hinder the kids from “surfing”.  They just love standing on their boogie boards waiting for a wave to come and knock them over.  Carlos likes the boogie board thing too, but he LOVES trying to fly over the sand with the skim board.

The skim board that was at the house last year for some reason just did not work…..I thought it was user error, until Carlos tried out another one (borrowed from some guy down on the beach) and he could skim just fine.  Well this spring there was a new skim board at the house and Carlos was loving it!  Personally I think it’s a terrifying experience that might land you in the hospital, but that’s because I’m 30 something, not 8.

Ben loves the water….even the VERY cold water and he was in “sandbox” heaven.  But the birds were the most captivating for Ben……anytime he saw one he would scream…..”bird” and jump up and chase that poor fowl up and down the beach.  But the term “bird brain” must come from somewhere because those pesky things just kept coming back for more!

My Natalie girl has no fear.  The water……..she wants to go out deeper.  The waves……crash her over and up she gets.  The only time that really threw Natalie off her water game was when she was riding a large wave in and it got the better of her……tossed her right off the boogie board and spun her in a few circles before I could get there for the rescue.  But she was right out there riding those waves with the big kids.

Jeremiah …….well he just goes with it……riding his boogie board, playing in the sand and eating lots of snacks.  He and Kia really had a ton of fun surfing and digging holes together.  For some reason when those two are together they just love to dig holes in the sand.  But I don’t think digging holes has ever done a little boy harm…..and they were so very content to dig.

Cousins are the best!

Mia and Autumn are the closest in age…….Mia is about 2 weeks older

The big boys……great friends from the start even if there is a 3 year age difference

Ari and Natalie……She refused to hold his hand…..”it’s all yucky mommy!”

And no beach trip is complete without our Oma!  My crazy mom…..loved by all, even if she looks a little scary in this picture!

And that’s a wrap on the beach trip of 2010!
