Over the past two weeks we’ve taken several very fun field trips. After each trip I have Carlos dictate a report to me (I do the actual writing, but he comes up with the words….well ….most of them). Here’s his report on Booker T. Washington:
Booker T. Washington lived in a house that seemed strange. He did not have a choice, he had to live there. Booker T. Washington wanted to go to school, but he did not have any money. This lady at the school asked him to sweep the floor, but he cleaned the whole room and the lady let him go to school. Booker T. Washington liked sweet potatoes. His mommy’s name was Jane and she cooked food for the farm. Booker T. Washington was a slave. Slavery is bad and I don’t want to be a slave.
