Growing Boys

August was such a crazy month that I forgot to do my “kidupdate”!!  So here’s the new tricks and stuff that my sweet babiesare doing:

Carlos

The other day I looked at his feet and could not believe that his toesare almost peaking over the edge of his size 12 sandals!  At thebeginning of summer I got the 12’s because they were all out of 11’sand now the 12’s are too small…..so if nothing else his feet aregrowing!!

But really that’s not all that’s growing.  We had a couple of coolweather days, so he pulled out his jeans and wahla, they turned intohigh-water jeans!!  WAY too short!  I’m amazed what a coupleof months can do….Carlos will be so excited though, because he will getall “new” clothes for winter!!  He LOVES new clothes!

But it’s not just his body that growing, his brain is too.  Heknows all of his colors in Spanish and English, he knows his alphabetA-K and can recognize all those letters too, he can count to 13 withouthelp and can count to 20 with a little help….14 is just a hard numberfor him!  His English has improved dramatically even in just helast month!  Very soon we are going to have to start working onSpanish cause I’m afraid he’s forgetting it all!

His comprehension is always improving.  Today after church Stephenasked him what Pastor Martin talked about and Carlos said “PastorMartin said that you no have bring food, there would be lots to eat andhe talked about Jonah” (see below).  So he does listen especiallywhen food is involved (tonight was a fellowship dinner atchurch).  The sermon however was about David and Goliath….well hewas in the right part of the Bible.

Favorites:

Phrase:  “Let me ask you one question”.  This is normally said at bedtime when he’s stalling!!

Food:  Still French Fries….probably always will be French Fries!!  But pizza is coming a very close second.

Obsession:  People breaking the law.  He always wants to knowif a car passes us on the interstate are they breaking the law. Police cars and fire trucks.

Bible story:  Jonah and the big fish….LOVES hearing this one….over and over….especially told by Papi.

Clothes:  Closet clothes…these are special clothes for Church andother nice events….drawer clothes are play clothes…boring!!  Wealso got him a belt for his “closet clothes” which he LOVES….I’ve stillnot figured that one out.

Carlos loves music (Veggie Tales….sigh….. not moms favorite), dancing, riding his “moto”, playing with cars and playing with Jeremiah. He also likes to pray and for the past few weeks has been praying forGod to send him a little sister.

Jeremiah
August was a huge developmental month for Jeremiah….he’s now walkingall over like crazy.  He still crawls when he needs to getsomewhere super fast, but walking is his main thing!  And it’s sofunny…..he will practice walking between two pieces of furniture forpractically hours….ok maybe that’s an exaggeration, but he willpractice for a LONG, LONG time.  Jeremiah weighs 22 pounds andLOVES to eat.  He will eat almost anything, but loves carrots mostof all.  The big new is that his before-bed bottle is nomore….history.  Yeah it was more for Mommy’s sake than his….as hedoes not miss it at all.

He also started talking this month…both verbal and sign!  He onlydoes two signs…”More” and “All Done”, but is super good withboth.  Verbally though, he says “thank you”.  I know youprobably think that’s a stretch, but he really does say it….Jeremiah’sThank you sounds like “taaatoooh”, but he will say it after I give himsomething to eat…so I’m really sure that’s what he’s saying.  Andwhen I say, Jeremiah say thank you, he will make that same exactsound!  He also says “Car” for Carlos.  But  does he sayMama, NOPE….one day!!

Jeremiah also loves books. He will amuse himself with books for quite along time just looking at the pictures.  He has also started tosit-still while I read short picture books to him…it’s so fun!  Mysweet baby got his first “big boy” hair cut (Sniff, sniff).  He’sturning into a little toddler.

Jeremiah has 8 teeth, though with the amount of drool he produces Ithink more are coming soon.  He’s still a Mama’s boy, but hasstarted to enjoy time with Papi too.  Jeremiah loves Carlos andwill play happily with his big brother, especially chase or cars.
